The society of British Film Directors and Designers was founded in 1946, for the betterment of Design in British Films. Out of this society grew the Guild of Film Art Directors, and the present British Film Designers Guild, who now include in their membership all the various branches of the Art Department.

We are not a trade union. The members’ names, contacts and a selection of their credits are listed in the following pages.

This document is presented primarily to assist Producers and others to select department members who will maintain the highest standards of Art Direction, even on the smallest of productions, and whose knowledge, experience and talent have been proven to be the highest in a medium where four fifths of the spectators attention is visual.

AGM 2016

AGM 2016

The main event of the year!

The AGM & BFDG Awards is a big social date in our calendar and the best chance to catch up and see what is planned as well as a summary of events over the past year. As always we get the biggest turnout of across the board members to this event. This is where you can highlight issues, question direction and action to be taken in the coming months.
Our Committee serve a two year term and this year sees a new Chairman and revision of the existing committee members.
BFDG Awards 2015 - new this year, we have invited all BFDG award nominee's whether members or not to join us as our guests after the AGM, specifically for the awards.  We welcome them all!

Our membership covers a diverse range of skills and experience. Spanning project budgets for International, Independent and micro budget productions.

Feature films, Shorts, Pilots, Promos, Commercials, Television Film, Series and Light Entertainment; we work across the board.

Whether looking for an established designer or young technician; most individuals work in various capacities depending on the project budget conditions. Categories do not restrict job titles taken. Indeed many Supervising Art Directors make excellent candidates as Production Designers for smaller jobs. Many already have design credits!

Always contact the office for confidential advice and guidance.
