Lifetime Achievement 2014
Anthony Pratt & Terry Ackland-Snow
I feel this should be titled “OUTSTANDING achievement so far in ones life” as many of these nominees still firmly have their pencils on the paper. They are:
Anthony Pratt – (W) – again started as a draughtsman in the 60s on films The Pure Hell of St Trinians and Nine Hours to Rama. Later art directing great war movies like Hell Boats and The Last Grenade. Now a production designer having created for us The End of the Affair, Michael Collins and The Phantom of the Opera.
Terry Ackland-Snow – (W) – now terry has a credit on IMDB in 1950 when he was 7 so I’m going to ignore that and say he was working from the 60s like the other nominees. He started out as a draughtsman on films such as The Battle of Britain and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. He went on to art direct Death on the Nile, Superman 2&3, Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Aliens and Batman. He now trains the next generation of our trade with all the style and energy he had himself learnt over those years of experience.
The winner voted on by you, the membership is a tie between Anthony Pratt and Terry Ackland-Snow
